“They’re little and they stick — but not too hard. That’s why everyone loves Post-it® Notes! Yet the unique that makes these little notes so indispensable waited more than a decade for its chance to change the world.
Dr. Spencer Silver, a 3M scientist, discovered the formula for the sticky stuff back in 1968. But it was Silver’s colleague, Art Fry, who finally came up with a practical use for it. The idea for repositionable notes struck Fry while singing in the church choir. His bookmark kept falling out of his hymnal, causing him to lose his page. So, taking advantage of a 3M policy known as the “bootlegging” policy, Fry used a portion of his working hours to develop a solution to his problem. Now the world is singing the praises of his pet project: Post-it® Notes.”
I am known around here as the Post-it Queen. I have used Post-it notes for over 15 years, whether it be in the offices I worked at or here. From my own to-do lists, to my honey-do lists. I have always loved Post-it’s because they are so convenient for that quick note that you can stick pretty much anywhere as reminders to certain children we will leave un-named (my own) and great for love notes in their lunch boxes.
I recently discovered that Post-it has become invloved with creating their product through sustainable forests! How awesome is that!
In this world that has become so “disposable”, it is nice to know that one of the best companies has gone green!
I was fortunate enough to get Post-it’s entire line of the sustainable green Post-its! They most certainly have not gone to waste in my home. I use them for ideas for this site, notes to my children, notes to my husband, notes from telephone conversations, you name it, I use them! I’d also like to point out that the Super Sticky Notes are awesome! If I leave a note on the fridge for my husband, it actually sticks there and doesn’t mysteriously disappear (that is unless, of course, he somehome managest to “make” it disappear.)
In my opinion, Post-it Notes are an invaluable tool in any household. Once you use them, you’ll wonder how you ever got along without them!
