CLOSED – Play-Doh Giveaway!

“The PLAY-DOH brand is proud to celebrate over 50 years of colorful, creative play. Since it was first introduced in 1956, PLAY-DOH modeling compound has become a classic and beloved toy, used in homes and schools around the world by children of all ages. In 1956 PLAY-DOH Brand modeling compound, a non-toxic reusable modeling compound developed by Rainbow Crafts in Cincinnati, is demonstrated and sold in the toy department of Woodward & Lothrop Department Store in Washington, D.C. PLAY-DOH compound is available only in one color and size, an off-white, 1.5-pound can. One year earlier, it was introduced to schools, kindergartens and nursery schools. Then in 1957 three new colors join the PLAY-DOH line – yellow, red and blue – and the three-can pack is introduced. Early TV advertising features Miss Frances on Ding Dong School and Captain Kangaroo. In 1972, PLAY-DOH compound records production of the 500,000,000th can. In 1991, PLAY-DOH compound joins Hasbro, Inc. as part of the Playskool line, when Hasbro purchased the Tonka Corporation and its Kenner and Parker Brothers divisions. In 2000, the PLAY-DOH Colorful Campaign collects more than 100,000 votes to determine the country’s favorite PLAY-DOH compound colors. Rose Red, Purple Paradise, Blue Lagoon and Garden Green win as favorites. In 2006, PLAY-DOH compound turns 50 years young. To mark the milestone, Hasbro fittingly introduces the PLAY-DOH BIRTHDAY BUCKET and the PLAY-DOH 50 PACK of colors that includes six new super pastel colors. In addition, the popular PLAY-DOH FUZZY PUMPER BARBER & BEAUTY SHOP playset returns as the FUZZY.”

How many of us remember playing with Play Doh as a child? The smell of it alone, brings back so many memories. Mixing the colors together to make a tie-dye snake. Perhaps, making that white snowman or the faces, bugs, anything and everything you could imagine. Then for our children, Play-Doh came out with all these awesome contraptions to help mold it. Take the Super Craft Caddy for example.

Play-doh super craft caddy

Voted Best Toys of the Year Award. You can load up the PLAY-DOH Super Craft Caddy, layout the floor mat and watch imaginations take on a shape of their own as kids get creative at one of the four different craft stations. Designed for children as young as three years old, kids can make colorful crafts using PLAY-DOH compound, including “Sand art,” “stained glass,” “cake” decorating and “bead” making.

Play-Doh Activity Center

Then there is the Play-Doh Activity Center. This activity-filled table comes with more than 45 accessories for plenty of open-ended imaginative play — and lots of easy-cleaning and storage features, too! A 4-picture activity mat encourages kids to mold meals, make faces, decorate a party scene and create jungle friends! Kids can shape their own creations or use the 26 built-in molds! There are plenty of cutters, extruders and additional molds to keep the creative juices flowing for quite some time. Built-in storage compartments and a special PLAY-DOH PICK UP STICK tool make for easy clean-up! Perfect for a rainy afternoon, a scheduled play date or keeping kids engaged in creative thinking, the Creativity Center is more than enough fun for one, or many!

I was lucky enough to receive the Play-Doh Spaghetti Factory Playset. This fun filled playset had the kids ‘cooking’ up an impressive variety of PLAY-DOH pasta and noodle creations. Simply place the bowl or plate atop the noodle factory, push down the arms, and a big portion of PLAY-DOH pasta appears. Add ‘yummy’ looking toppings like PLAY-DOH meatballs, tomatoes or shrimp using the selection of handy half-molds.

I would have put a video up of my children playing with it, but my desktop computer crashed and I lost the video. It was so awesome to watch and help them play with it. They loved it so much. My boys even shared! They were fascinated with how the Play-Doh came out of the top and it looked like noodles. The would mix up the colors and have multi-colored noodles, then make meatballs for it as well. They still use the Spaghetti Maker to this day. Although, the first time they played with it, they did it at the kitchen table – not a really great idea. After that lesson learned, I let them play it outside on the porch. That way all the little pieces that fell could easily be swept away into the grass.

Play-Doh has been awesome enough to give one of our readers their very own Spaghetti Maker!
